Florida football beat up on an FCS opponent in Week 2, blowing out the Campbell Fighting Camels in the Swamp, 52-3, to earn its second win of the 2026 campaign. As a result, the Gators saw some improvement in their Football Power Index ranking and other data compared to last week.

The FPI measures team strength and is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance for the rest of the season; it shows how many points above or below average a team is. Each team is assigned a rating that measures its true strength on a net points scale as well as expected point margin versus an average opponent on a neutral field.

Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the season using FPI and the schedule. Here is a look at how Florida's numbers shake out after Week 2's results.

Where Florida football ranks in ESPN's Week 2 FPI

The Gators moved up to No. 15 in ESPN's FPI rankings after Week 2 with a rating of 16.2 — up from No. 17 and 15.5, respectively, last week. That rating puts them behind Penn State by 0.2 points and ahead of No. 16 Texas Tech by a mere 0.1 points.

The FPI now predicts Florida to finish this fall's regular-season schedule with a 7.3-4.8 record, but still with a 0% chance of winning out. The chances of finishing with six wins or more got a 2.9% boost to 83.0%, while the odds of winning the conference fell two-tenths of a percent to 1.8%.

The Gators now have an 18.9% chance of making the College Football Playoff, a 2.1% chance of reaching the national championship game and a 0.7% chance of bringing home the national title.
