Florida football's redshirt junior punter Alec Clark was named to the Ray Guy Award preseason watch list, the Augusta Sports Council announced on Friday.
Clark enters his first season with the Gators after arriving from Tulane through the transfer portal this offseason. He started all 14 games for the Green Wave last fall, launching 48 punts for a career-best 46.5 yards per punt, with 16 kicks landing inside the opponent's 20-yard line and another 16 traveling 50-plus yards; he also logged 16 fair catches.
The Swan View, Australia, native was named First Team All-AAC in 2025 for his efforts and was also named to the Shriners Children's East-West Bowl 1000 last month.
Before Florida and Tulane, Clark spent two years at Marshall and spent a spring semester at Southern Miss before joining the Green Wave.
The candidates on the list incorporate a broad spectrum of FBS punters and were compiled based on previous Ray Guy Award Semifinalists, 2025 All-Americans, and All-Conference selections, top-performing punters, and 2026 Preseason All-American and Preseason All-Conference selections.
A final watch list will be announced in early November, and the Ray Guy Award committee will meet to select the ten semifinalists in mid-November and then top three finalists to be announced in late November. After the finalists are named, the voting body will cast ballots again to select the nation's top punter. The winner will be announced live during The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN in December.
About the Ray Guy Award watch list
The Ray Guy Award — named for football's premier punter — honors the nation's best collegiate punter in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy.
Among the statistics used to identify the winner are net punting average, percentage of punts inside the 20-yard line, and percentage of punts not returned, with particular emphasis placed on net punting average.
