Florida radio caller arouses suspicion over Gators’ star’s struggles vs. Mizzou

The Missouri Tigers trounced the Florida Gators at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. It was a shockingly dominant victory for the No. 25 Tigers over the No. 8 Gators. And maybe the most surprising part about the game was how thoroughly Missouri shut down Missouri’s star running back Jaden Baugh, who was having one of the best seasons in all of college football.
Baugh entered the Week 5 showdown averaging 150 yards and more than two touchdowns a game. He had just run for 142 yards and scored three times against an Ole Miss team that was ranked No. 4 in the nation. Mizzou held him to 13 yards on 12 carries and kept him out of the end zone all afternoon.
ESPN’s local radio affiliate on the Gainesville campus, WRUF, went live after the loss for “The Extra Point” postgame show (presented by Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille, of course). The station’s sports director, Steve Russell, took some calls from frustrated fans and it was all going fine until someone shared a NSFW theory on why the running back had a bad game.

“I heard a previous caller talking about Baugh was maybe distracted by being on Pat McAfee or ESPN or something he goes. You know, to me, fact of the matter is, he hasn’t been getting any p—-.”
Russell immediately dropped the call and told listeners the incident would be referred to the university police department.
Baugh did appear on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Friday, but the only crime there might have been a jinx. McAfee introduced the running back by saying he had a chance to win the Heisman as a non-quarterback. The interview, which took place with Baugh sitting in his car, only took about 10 minutes.

Baugh and Florida will try to get things back on track this Saturday when they host the South Carolina Gamecocks. They then wrap up October with games against the top two teams in the nation, Texas and Georgia.
