Florida redshirt freshman running back Kahnen “KD” Daniels will enter the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.
Swamp247’s Graham Hall and On3’s Hayes Fawcett both shared the news shortly after 11 a.m. ET on Monday, Dec. 15. Daniels will enter the portal when it officially opens on Jan. 2. He’s the second Gator of the day to leave the program, following sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway’s announcement.
He will also join wide receiver Muizz Tounkara and defensive lineman Tarvorise Brown when the transfer portal opens on Friday, Jan. 2; it closes on Friday, Jan. 16.
Daniels signed on with Florida as a four-star recruit in the class of 2024, according to the 247Sports composite, ESPN, On3 and Rivals. On3 listed him as a top-5 player out of the state of Mississippi, and Rivals had him as the No. 10 running back in the class.
As a true freshman, Daniels appeared in four games, preserving his redshirt. His collegiate debut came against Miami on special teams, and he recorded his first offensive snaps against FCS Samford. Daniels didn’t play again until the regular-season finale against Florida State. He had a season-high five carries for 55 yards and a touchdown in the Gasparilla Bowl against Tulane, ending his year with 11 carries, 77 rushing yards and a touchdown.
With Ja’Kobi Jackson and Treyaun Webb out for most of the 2025 campaign, Daniels stepped in as a backup to Jadan Baugh, splitting time with true freshman Duke Clark. Daniels played in 10 games, posting 28 carries for 108 yards and a rushing touchdown. He also hauled in three receptions for 14 yards.
Daniels’ most productive game as a redshirt freshman came at Kentucky with 20 rushing yards on four carries and 14 receiving yards on two catches. His best running day came against Texas A&M, when he rushed for 28 yards on three carries. His lone touchdown of the season came against Mississippi State on a direct snap.
“He’s explosive. I think he’d done a really good job,” Florida interim head coach Billy Gonzales said of Daniels on Nov. 5. “Obviously, having a chance to see him participate over the year. He’s explosive, he’s got an incredible work ethic, he’s got a great first step. We feel strong, we feel very strong about him.
“Obviously, we feel strong about all the running backs that we have on the roster right now. But just like anything else, I think it takes patience and it takes time for people to completely learn the system.”
Gonzales continued, “We’ve had a really good running backs, and again, I always talk about the patience, patience will come, the patience means when it’s my time to go play the competitive excellence piece will kick in and you’re ready to make those plays, and I think that’s kind of what he’s done. He’s got a chance to get a year under his belt; he’s went through the hard times and we’re extremely confident in him.”
