Two Florida State golfers are starting the 2026-27 season on prestigious preseason watch lists.
The Haskins Foundation announced on Thursday that Seminoles senior Tyler Weaver is included in its Fred Haskins Award Preseason Watch List. The award has been annually given to the top male U.S. collegiate D1 golfer since 1971. A collection of players, coaches, past Haskins Award winners, and members of the college golf media vote to select the award recipient.
Weaver was previously on the list entering his junior season. He finished last year with a scoring average of 69.58, which is the fifth-best average in Florida State history. Only three other Seminoles to shoot under 70 strokes in a single season, leading Weaver to be named First Team All-America by Golfweek and Second Team All-America by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Weaver won the 2026 Valspar Collegiate, finished in the top 25 in each of his eight starts last season, and was also a Ben Hogan Award semifinalist. After racking up a lot of ACC honors, Weaver enters his senior season ranked second in the World Golf Amateur Rankings.
Weaver will join fellow Seminole Jack Whaley on the Great Britain and Ireland squad in the Walker Cup on Sept. 5.
On the women’s side, Seminole junior Sophia Fullbrook enters the 2026-27 season on the preseason watch list for the ANNIKA Award, as announced on Thursday by the Haskins Foundation. The ANNIKA Award has been presented to the top female Division I collegiate golfer since 2014.
She enjoyed a standout sophomore campaign, posting a 71.09 scoring average over 34 stroke-play rounds last season, being ranked No. 18 in the country by Scoreboard, and earning Second Team All-America honors from both Golfweek and the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
The All-ACC golfer enters the new season ranked 24th by the World Amateur Golf Ranking. The St. Albans, England, native led the Seminoles with 23 rounds at or below par while totaling seven top 10 finishes. She was Florida State's top finisher in eight of its 11 stroke-play tournaments.
Fullbrook was particularly impressive during the spring, capturing individual titles in three of her final five events. Included in that late run was a tie for 20th-place at the NCAA Championship.
Mirabel Ting was the first Florida State golfer to win the ANNIKA Award after carrying the Seminoles in 2025. Fullbrook will look to etch her name in Florida State golfing lore.
