Florida State Kicker Is Facing Felony Charges On Spring Break

A college football kicker has been arrested and is facing felony charges on spring break.

Conor McAneney, a kicker on the Florida State football team, was arrested earlier this week. Police allege that the college football kicker got "violent" with authorities during a spring break incident in Broward County, Florida.

"McAneney was confronted by law enforcement just feet away from the famed Elbo Room at 2:30 a.m. following a trespassing incident, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department said in a statement to The California Post, but he allegedly got physical with officers as they attempted to detain him," the report states.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department released a statement.

“He became uncooperative and violent,” the FLPD said. “He was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence and trespassing. McAneney was transported to BHMC as a precaution prior to being booked in the BSO Main Jail.

“McAneney is visiting Fort Lauderdale on Spring Break.”

McAneney, who turns 21 next month, is facing two felony charges. He is facing one count of battery on an officer and one count of resisting an officer, along with one misdemeanor charge of trespassing.

The Florida State football player was still behind bars as of Thursday morning.

The kicker, who is Northern Irish, has been with the FSU program for one season. He previously played at Quincy University in Illinois.

McAneney went 7 of 10 on field goals last year.

It's unclear at this time what McAneney's arrest means for his future with the FSU football program.
