Florida State recruiting: 2027 quarterback Logan Flaherty commits to FSU

The Florida State Seminoles landed a commitment from an in-state quarterback today, as former UCF commit Logan Flaherty announced he’s rolling with #Tribe27.

Flaherty is 6’2, 195 pounds and plays for Port Charlotte High School. 247Sports Composite currently has him as the 726th best player nationally (40th best QB, 66th best player in FL). He reports offers from Miami, Florida, Texas Tech, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, SMU, Virginia Tech, Memphis, and others. That said, Rutgers was the other program pushing heavily for him ahead of today’s commitment.

Florida State had put most of its eggs in the Wonderful Monds IV basket but pivoted to re-evaluating Flaherty once Monds began heavily trending to Notre Dame (and to a lesser extent, Ohio State). New QB coach Austin Tucker confirmed Flaherty’s offer as committable, and despite a strong push from Rutgers, it has now resulted in a verbal commitment to FSU. Flaherty has significant ties to Tallahassee, with both of his parents holding degrees from Florida State and a long list of prior visits to campus.

Flaherty wrapped up his junior season by completing 60.8% of his passes for 2,636 yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also ran for 595 yards and 11 touchdowns on 140 carries. Over three varsity campaigns to date, Flaherty has career numbers of 4,762 passing yards on 346 completions on 604 attempts. He’s thrown for 53 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He’s also scored 28 rushing touchdowns, accumulating 1,613 yards on 317 attempts.

He was formerly committed to the UCF Knights. Flaherty should be considered a developmental prospect.
