Florida State recruiting: 4-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune commits to FSU

Huge news on the recruiting trail for the Florida State Seminoles today, as one of the most talented (and most needed) targets on the entire board has verbally committed to continue his career in Tallahassee. Defensive lineman Sam LeJeune has pledged for #Tribe27.

LeJeune is a 6’3, 280 pound lineman from Poplarville, Mississippi. 247Sports Composite considers him the 119th best player in the country (11th best DL, 5th best in MS). He chose the Seminoles over fellow finalists Auburn, Cal, and Washington. Ultimately, the FSU beat out recruiting ace Tosh Lupoi and Cal for LeJeune. He was originally scheduled to conclude his summer official visits with LSU but cancelled those plans prior to his OV to Florida State, clearing a big hurdle for the ‘Noles to gain his pledge.

LeJeune is a two-way player for his high school with extensive experience on both sides of the trenches. Last season, he managed 58 tackles (14 for loss), 4 sacks, 3 pass deflections, multiple blocked kicks, an interception returned for a touchdown, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. This despite being double- or triple-teamed on the majority of his snaps. He’s also an accomplished power lifter.

To say that Mike Norvell and the Seminoles have been invested in LeJeune would be an understatement. Florida State was the first program to offer LeJeune a scholarship back in June 2024 and has been remarkably consistent in the time since, with Norvell taking the lead in his recruitment. It has culminated in the news today and as we know, landing a commitment from a prominent blue-chip can have ripple effects.

These are the kinds of recruitments FSU must win if it hopes to get back to the winning ways of the past. It’s an encouraging sign that FSU was able to land LeJeune’s commitment after years of effort and resources. Now the staff must hold on.
