Florida State signs defensive lineman Chris Carbin

Chris Carbin, who committed to FSU on October 11, has officially signed with the Seminoles.

Carbin is a 6-foot-4, 235-pound defensive lineman who plays for Hillgrove High in Powdery Springs, Georgia. 247Sports Composite considers him the 677th best player in the nation (69th best edge and 74th best player in GA).

Carbin finished his senior campaign with 39 tackles (12 for loss), seven sacks, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble and recovery. His stats have shown steady improvement each season.

Carbin had been committed to Georgia Tech before his recruitment had a bit of a surge, collecting offers from Auburn and FSU to add to his reported 38 total offers. He flipped to the Seminoles and maintained his pledge despite pushes from other schools.

Carbin plays a position that Florida State needs more production from and has a chance to find some reps early on in his career if he’s able to learn the defense quickly. He has a good frame and doesn’t need to shed any bad weight, so as he adds strength and bulk he should be able to retain explosiveness.

From his official Florida State bio:
