The 2026 college football season started with a crazy Week 1 around the country. We got to see another version of the Miracle at Michigan play out at the Big House, Rutgers planned fireworks mishap, and Lane Kiffin hanging half-a-hundred on Dabo Swinney and Clemson.
It's very fitting there was more in store for a bizarre open to the season. If you had a stadium blackout on your college football bingo card, you might be winning. That's exactly what happened on Labor Day.
No. 20 SMU was in Tallahassee to face Florida State on Monday, Sept. 7, but the kickoff was delayed due to a blackout. As of 8:30 p.m. ET, the Mustangs and Seminoles returned to the field to warm up. But social media were having a field day with the unfortunate situation. Here are some of the best posts from the millions of fans watching at home
Florida State fans are not allowed to pretend they can buy their way out of the ACC for at least one calendar year after this.

I don't want to say Florida State has become a cursed program, but have they considered a stadium exorcism?
