Florida vs Ole Miss Prediction: The Lane Kiffin Bowl

On a day when the world will stop for Oklahoma vs Alabama, and Texas vs Georgia will mean just about everything to solidifying the pecking order in the SEC chase …

Are the current Florida Gators auditioning for Lane Kiffin?

Ole Miss wants to keep him, everyone else wants him – including the NFL (cough … New York Giants … cough), but for this week, all that really matters is that Kiffin is (probably) one win away from getting his Rebels into the College Football Playoff.

Get to 10-1, and the Mississippi State game might not matter – okay, so maybe it does. But realistically, a two-loss Ole Miss is in.

On the other side, the Gators are still alive for a bowl game, but they need to take this down, then beat Tennessee, then Florida State.

Why Florida Will Win

Florida is really, really simple.

Meh offense, strong enough defense, and just enough in the bag to win …

If it doesn’t turn the ball over a gazillion times.

The Gators are far, far better than Kentucky, but they turned it over four times and couldn’t get the O going in the blowout loss.

They probably beat LSU if they didn’t give it away five times, the two against Texas A&M were a killer, and the one – along with a parade of penalties – cost them the USF game.

Ole Miss doesn’t usually force takeaways.

The pass rush is fine, the run defense great, but this bunch is hit-or-miss on bringing the defensive thump. However …

Why Ole Miss Will Win

Florida might be fried.

It’s the biggest topic of talk radio conversation right now when it comes to the CFP and this year’s season – who did (insert team here) really beat?

No one seems to like anyone’s schedule, but that’s part of the deal. More spread-out schedules usually mean better records, better seasons, and … Florida hasn’t had a second to breathe after stomping LIU to start the season.

Every week has been tense, Billy Napier got fired, everyone is looking ahead to what’s next, and all the while, the Gators have given it the old college try.

But the Georgia game-winning touchdown might have been what finally broke this bunch. The Gators didn’t get off the bus against Kentucky.

This is the final home game of the season for Ole Miss, it’s Senior Day, it’s going to be “Stay in your Lane” type signs and chants, and …

Florida vs Ole Miss Prediction, Betting Lines

The speed of the Ole Miss offense will get to Florida right away. The Gators will hang in there for a little bit, but two empty drives, two Rebel scoring drives, and that will be it.

Ole Miss pitched a terrific game against The Citadel last week, at least outside of the running game. There’s no lack of focus here, especially considering how the Jaxson Dart meltdown game against the Gators last year probably cost Ole Miss a spot in the playoff.
