Right around the time reports revealed TCU was closing in on UConn offensive coordinator Gordon Sammis, the Horned Frogs picked up their second quarterback prospect of the 2026 recruiting class in three-star signal caller Jayden Maples. Maples, a 6-foot-2, 195-pounder who plays for Frisco Wakeland, held offers from Arkansas State, Stephen F. Austin and Southern Miss. Maples threw for 2,804 yards, 27 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on 215-for-325 passing (.662), while adding 155 yards and three touchdowns during his 12-game junior season.
Maples joins Jack Daulton as the second quarterback of the 2026 class for the Horned Frogs, who recently recognized 21 signees during the Early Signing Day period earlier this month. Maples becomes the 23rd recruit of the 2026 class, which currently ranks 37th in the nation under the 247Sports composite ratings. Josh Hoover has one year of eligibility remaining, while Ken Seals will be moving on. TCU also has four-star freshman quarterback Adam Schobel on the roster.
