TCU football scored a highly-touted three-star prospect on Sunday. Defensive back Rontrae Carter, a rising senior who plays at Archbishop Shaw in Marrero, Louisiana, committed to the Horned Frogs and chose TCU over Mississippi State, UNLV, Houston and others. Carter, a safety prospect, had 45 tackles and a tackle for loss as a sophomore in 2024. As a junior in 2025, Carter compiled 97 tackles and two interceptions while leading his team to a 9-5 record. He’s a three-time All-District selection and a two-time All-State selection in Louisiana.
A multi-sport athlete who competes in track and field, Carter becomes the 18th overall prospect and the second safety prospect of the 2027 class for the Horned Frogs, who’ve already added Madison Prep’s Landon Johnson. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder held offers from several Division I programs including Arizona State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Florida State, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Syracuse and Baylor. Carter took an official visit to TCU in June.
