It seems as though Oregon wants to challenge Ohio State for the title of “Receiver University” in the years to come.

The commitment of receiver Dakota Guerrant pushed Oregon’s 2027 class into the Top 5 in the nation, a place Dan Lanning and his staff have visited with some frequency the last few years.

A composite 5-star wideout from Harper Woods Michigan, Guerrant caught 55 passes last season for 1,074 yards and 26 touchdowns offensively while adding another three scores on special teams with 40 tackles, nine pass breakups and three interceptions on the defensive end.

A blue-chip athlete if there ever was one, and Oregon snatched him right from the Wolverine’s back yard.

Playing on both sides of the ball in high school is common, and at Oregon Guerrant will be only offensively involved perhaps aside from punt returns, but having an understanding of playing in the defensive backfield can only serve as a plus since that’s who he’ll be facing off against.

At 6-foot-1 with good length and the fluidity with which he moves, Guerrant should be able to play inside or outside fairly easily.

Guerrant was Oregon’s second 5-star recruit of the 2027 cycle.
