Football signing day: Greater Lansing trio signs with Division I programs

Haslett's Kory Amachree runs the ball against Fowlerville, Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, in Fowlerville.

A trio of Greater Lansing high school football standouts made their college commitments official on the opening day of the early signing period Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Haslett’s Kory Amachree signed with Kansas, Owosso’s Carter Miculka signed with Eastern Michigan and DeWitt’s Traverse Moore signed with Central Michigan on Wednesday, which kicked off the three-day early period.

Amachree, a running back, was one of 17 players signed by Kansas on Wednesday. He was the lone running back added by the Jayhawks. Amachree ran for 1,196 yards and 16 touchdowns and had 147 receiving yards and two TDs this fall for Haslett.

“(He has) speed, power (and) he shows flashes of that make you miss,” Kansas coach Lance Leipold said of Amachree during his press conference Wednesday. “He’s got good balance. (He is an) outstanding kids and family that we felt fit our culture the way we wanted. A very talented guy. To get him out of the state of Michigan and things like that was big. Terry Samuel knew the family from his time at Michigan State and really was instrumental in that and Coach Wallace did a great job with him as well.”

Carter Miculka

Miculka, a 6-foot-6 lineman, was one of 37 players signed by Eastern Michigan. The three-start prospect is the highest-ranked football prospect from Owosso since Brad Van Pelt. He was the leader of an offensive line that helped Owosso break 41 school records and blocked for the program's all-time leader in passing and rushing yards. Miculka, who will enroll at EMU in January, will play on the offensive line for the Eagles.

"A big dude and people mover for us," EMU offensive coordinator Mike Piatkowski said of Miculka. "He's been awesome for us. He's going to be a big-time offensive lineman for us."

DeWitt's Traverse Moore runs for a touchdown against Warren De La Salle Collegiate during their MHSAA semifinal game, Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, in Grand Blanc.

Moore was one of 31 players Central Michigan signed on Wednesday. The three-star prospect played quarterback while leading DeWitt to its second state title in program history this season. Moore was recruited by the Chippewas as a running back. He is graduating early and will enroll at Central in January.

Moore rushed for 2,482 yards and 33 touchdowns and threw for 934 yards and 13 touchdowns for DeWitt this fall.
