The successes of the Oregon Ducks‘ secondary in 2025 has been well documented, as the unit finished the season ranked third in pass defense.
Talented youngsters have stepped up, with true freshman Brandon Finney Jr. starting full-time and true freshman Na’eem Offord and sophomore Ify Obidegwu carving out reserve roles. Redshirt freshman Aaron Flowers has locked down the safety position opposite transfer Dillon Thieneman, who joined the team alongside fellow transfer contributors in cornerbacks Jadon Canady (Ole Miss) and Theran Johnson (Northwestern).
All of it has created a logjam in the secondary at both the cornerback and safety positions.
Presumably as a result, redshirt sophomore safety Solomon Davis reportedly intends to enter the transfer portal, On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos first reported.

The 6-foot, 197-pound safety was a three-star recruit in the 2023 class out of Fontana, CA. He appeared in two games as a true freshman, utilizing his redshirt.
In 2024, Davis saw action in 13 of 14 games mostly on special teams, recording three assisted tackles. He assumed a similar role this season, totaling six tackles. He contributed half a sack in Oregon’s 69-3 victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 2.
Davis is the first Duck to announce his intentions of entering the transfer portal this season.
