Former 4-Star DL Receives 7th Year Of College Football Eligibility

Alabama recently got a commitment from defensive lineman Kedrick Bingley-Jones from the transfer portal.

Bingley-Jones spent the last two seasons at Mississippi State before transferring to Alabama. He needed a seventh year of eligibility for this season and recently secured it.

Thank You, God! Wavier got approved by the NCAA,” Bingley-Jones posted on X.

Bingley-Jones had a strong 2025 season, finishing with 25 tackles and one pass defended. His 25 tackles are a career high heading into the 2026 season.

He started his playing career at North Carolina and was part of the class of 2020. He was a four-star prospect in that class and the sixth-best recruit in North Carolina, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He was also the No. 15 defensive tackle recruit and the No. 152 overall recruit in the nation.

Alabama finished the 2025 college football season with an 11-4 record after losing to Indiana in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Alabama beat Oklahoma in the first round of the CFP and was the ninth seed overall.

This was Kalen DeBoer’s second season as head coach after taking over for Nick Saban before the 2024 season. He has a 20-8 overall record going into the 2026 season.

Before taking over Alabama, DeBoer was Washington’s head coach and led the program to the CFP National Championship Game during the 2023 season, where it lost to Michigan. DeBoer finished his Washington tenure with a 25-3 record.

Alabama will open the 2026 season on Sept. 5 against East Carolina.
