Former 49ers RB scores touchdown in first game with Saints

Only a few days ago, the New Orleans Saints made a trade, sending away linebacker offseason addition Deion Jones to the San Francisco 49ers to receive running back Zamir White in return. With Alvin Kamara, Devin Neal, and Ty Chandler all dealing with recent injuries, the necessity to bring in another option was clear. On a drive where rookie free agent pickup CJ Donaldson went off the field the play prior, Zamir White made the most of his rep, rushing for 11 yards and picking up the Saints' third touchdown of the night. That's after he introduced himself to his new team with a 27-yard kick return earlier in the game.

White will be competing for the RB4 role on this New Orleans roster long-term, but with Kamara and Neal down for a little bit of time, he has an opportunity to dress out behind Travis Etienne Jr., Kendre Miller, and Audric Estimé in Week 1 if things stay as they are. Donaldson will also be in the mix, with one or two practice squad spots typically being allocated to running backs.
