We learned a few days ago that one of Notre Dame’s former 5-star commits in quarterback Deuce Knight entered the transfer portal, and on Sunday another did the same.

Keon Keeley was at one-point was committed to the Irish, but the defensive end decommitted later and ultimately signed with Alabama. The 5-star star out of Florida, the No. 2 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, was seen as a huge recruiting loss for Notre Dame at the time.

Fast forward to now, and it’s trending like you could potentially label Keeley as a bust. In his two seasons, three total with the program, he didn’t see the field much with the Crimson Tide, having just 16 tackles, but did have three sacks that all came this past season. On Sunday, he decided that Tuscaloosa wasn’t the place for him anymore, and entered the portal according to Pete Nakos.

It will be interesting to see if Notre Dame will go after Keeley again, as it does seem like with the transfer visitors that are scheduled to visit South Bend, there is a need on the defensive line. It won’t be easy, however, as you have to believe that multiple teams will take a waver on the former 5-star prospect.
