Texas A&M (11-1, 7-1 SEC) is less than 24 hours away from hosting Miami (10-2) in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Former head coach Jimbo Fisher, who is now an analyst with the ACC Network, made his way to College Station with the rest of his team to preview the matchup, especially the Hurricanes.
However, Fisher, who will continue to receive a paycheck from the Aggies due to his massive payout for the next nine or so years, and his exit was amicable. From the look of it, there is no ill will from either side, knowing that Fisher knows deep down that he did not live up to the massive expectations bestowed upon him during his six-year career.
On Friday afternoon, Fisher provided his official prediction for the matchup, stating that, while he likes the way Miami has played this season, especially riding a four-game winning streak, including a 38-7 blowout victory over Pitt, the former Aggie head coach is taking Texas A&M to pull out a close win due to playing in Kyle Field, which should be rocking, and will likely be sold out.
Predictions are usually based on film study and general feelings. While all three Aggies Wire writers picked Texas A&M to pull out a close win, Miami possesses one of the best rosters, and starting quarterback Carson Beck has thrived in the pocket without pressure coming his way. Still, this game will come down to Texas A&M star quarterback Marcel Reed playing at a high level, which is never guaranteed.
Texas A&M will host Miami on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with coverage on ABC and ESPN.
