Former Auburn QB Jackson Arnold listed among top Group of Five QBs

The college football career of Jackson Arnold has not shaped up the way many thought. The former five-star quarterback is now on his third team after playing for Oklahoma and Auburn.
Arnold is getting another fresh start with UNLV and is projected to thrive in his new home. He was named to the On3 list of the top ten Group of Six quarterbacks entering the 2026 season. Also on the list is South Florida quarterback Michael Van Buren, who will attempt to replace Byrum Brown.
When Arnold signed with the Sooners, he was rated as a five-star prospect from Denton, Texas, as part of the 2023 recruiting class. He was rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 quarterback and No. 8 player nationally. Arnold struggled in 2024 as the starter for the Sooners, as did the rest of the offense. Oklahoma went into that season without its top wide receivers and a suspect offensive line.
Unfortunately, at Auburn, it did not get much better for the signal caller. He did well at limiting interceptions, but showed hesitancy in throwing the ball downfield. Arnold threw for 1,309 yards and six touchdowns for the Tigers and rushed for eight touchdowns. He was eventually benched by Hugh Freeze in favor of Ashton Daniels, who is now with the Florida State Seminoles.
Now he will play under head coach Dan Mullen at UNLV and should be a fit for the Runnin' Rebels offense. Mullen has had success with quarterbacks who possessed great running ability, like Dak Prescott and Tim Tebow, during his time at Florida and Mississippi State.
