A former Auburn quarterback has landed a new coaching job with an in-state power.
Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City announced Wednesday its hiring of former Auburn quarterback Jeremy Johnson as the football program's offensive coordinator. Johnson recently served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Charles Henderson High School in Troy, and served different roles at Montgomery Catholic from 2022-24.
The Charles Henderson Trojans averaged 254.5 yards per game during the 2025 season, winning six games and earning a spot in the AHSAA 5A playoffs. Montgomery Catholic also won two state championships while he was on staff during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Now, he joins a program that has produced several talented players in recent years, including former Auburn wide receiver Malcolm Simmons and recent Alabama signee Cedarian Morgan.
Johnson played four seasons at Auburn, passing for 2,224 yards and 20 touchdowns from 2013-16.
Please help us welcome Jeremy Johnson as the new Offensive Coordinator.
Johnson is former Alabama Mr. Football award winner and went on to start at QB for Auburn University. He also helped lead Montgomery Catholic to back-to-back state championships.
