Former Boise State defensive back Jeremiah Earby has committed to Michigan, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports. Earby, a member of the Class of 2022, entered the Portal on Oct. 14 after receiving a TRO from the 22nd Circuit Court in Washtenaw, MI to play one last season of college football.
Earby’s career began at Cal, where he played from 2022-23. There, he appeared in 24 games and recorded 62 tackles, 0.5 TFL, two interceptions, and 17 pass deflections.

He then spent the past two seasons at Boise State, where he emerged as a key contributor on the Broncos’ College Football Playoff team. In that span, he racked up 94 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 0.5 sack, five interceptions, and 16 pass deflections. He was named to the All-Mountain West Second Team last season.
He’ll now join a Michigan football program that sits at 3-2 on the season and looks to be out of the race for a College Football Playoff spot. The Wolverines opened the season with a miraculous win over Western Michigan, an upset over No. 11 Oklahoma, and a blowout victory over UTEP, but has since lost back-to-back games to No. 17 Iowa and Minnesota.
Kyle Whittingham: ‘This is the biggest challenge I’ve had’
Following Michigan‘s 20-14 loss at Minnesota in Week 5, which marked its first in Minneapolis since 1977, head coach Kyle Whittingham opened up about just how challenging the season has been. Whittingham is in the midst of his first season with the program after taking over for former head coach Sherrone Moore this offseason. He previously served as Utah‘s head coach from 2005-2025.
“This is the biggest challenge I’ve had,” Whittingham said, via 247’s Alejandro Zuniga. In addition, Whittingham claimed that ‘everything is in play’ in regard to making personnel/coaching changes. Per Zuniga, Whittingham called his team’s performances this season ‘unacceptable’.
Michigan still has seven regular season games to turn its season around, but it won’t be easy. The Wolverines still have matchups against No. 5 Indiana, Oregon, and No. 12 UCLA looming before closing out their regular season slate with ‘The Game’ against No. 4 Ohio State on Nov. 28.
