A Memphis native is coming home for his final year of college.

Former Christian Brothers star running back Dallan Hayden has committed to Memphis football out of the transfer portal, he announced Jan. 11. Hayden spent two years at Ohio State and two years at Colorado before entering the portal and choosing the Tigers for his final season of eligibility.

“Back home for the last dance,” Hayden posted on social media platform X. “Let’s get it.”

The 5-foot-10, 205-pound running back won the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football in Division II-AAA twice during his high school career. He was No. 1 on The Commercial Appeal’s Dandy Dozen list in 2021 and was one of the top running back recruits in the country. His dad is former Tennessee running back Aaron Hayden.

Hayden was a four-star recruit out of high school and started his career at Ohio State. He earned playing time as a true freshman, rushing for 553 yards and five touchdowns. He rushed for only 110 yards in 2023 before entering the transfer portal.

Hayden rushed for 196 yards in 2024 and 326 yards in 2025.

Memphis has a major need at running back as new coach Charles Huff looks to rebuild the Tigers’ roster. Essentially all of Memphis’ running back room from 2025 is either out of eligibility or in the transfer portal, so it’s likely the Tigers will continue adding to the room.
