Part of the reason the Colorado Buffaloes have put together a top-25 transfer portal class is that the team saw significant turnover following a 3-9 season.
Two of the Buffs’ 37 outgoing transfers found new homes in SEC country on Sunday, with two-way player Isaiah Hardge and quarterback Ryan Staub committing to Tennessee. The majority of Staub’s playing time as a Buffalo came in the 2025 season, when he appeared in five games, totaling 427 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions while completing 55% of his passes.
Staub started one game in 2025 for Colorado against Houston, completing 19 of 35 passes for 204 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions in a 36-20 loss. He was one of the longest tenured Buffs, backing up Shedeur Sanders in 2023 and 2024.

Hardge took a similar path to Staub, redshirting in 2023 and playing in a reserve role for the next two seasons. In his first season, he converted from a wide receiver to a defensive back, but saw playing time in both roles over the next two seasons.
The Hollywood, Florida native starred on special teams for the Buffs in 2025, appearing on all five units and recording seven tackles. He ends his Colorado career with five catches for 37 yards, 15 tackles, and one fumble recovery.
The two heading to the SEC continue the trend of 2025 Buffs heading to other Power 4 schools. Of the 37 outgoing transfers, only five have gone to the Group of 6.
