A third former Oregon Duck has decided to join former defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi with the California Golden Bears. Safety Kingston Lopa and wide receiver Cooper Perry were the first two, with defensive lineman Jericho Johnson joining them with the announcement of his commitment to Cal on Saturday night.

Johnson was among a string of defensive lineman for the Ducks that entered the portal on Jan. 11, the same day that the entire starting defensive line for Oregon in 2025 announced that they were returning for next season.

Johnson arrived in Eugene as a four-star and the No. 17 defensive lineman and No. 94 player overall in the 2024 recruiting class. He was a standout at Armijo High School in Fairfield, CA.

The 6-foot-4, 342-pounder appeared in two games as a true freshman in 2024, utilizing a redshirt. He saw more time in 2025, totaling five tackles and one pass defensed. His top performance came in the Ducks‘ 56-22 loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal, as he notched a career-high two tackles.

Now, Johnson will hope to have a hand in improving the Golden Bears’ run defense, as they finished 79th in the nation in allowing 156.6 rush yards per game last season. They also struggled to rush the passer, ranking tied for 100th in total sacks.

Amidst a coaching change with Lupoi taking over for Justin Wilcox, California will look to build upon a 7-6 record in 2025, as they went 4-4 in the ACC and suffered a heartbreaking loss in the Hawai’i Bowl to Hawai’i.

Johnson will have three seasons of eligibility remaining for the Golden Bears.
