The college football transfer portal for 2026 will open on Friday. However, several players have already declared their intention to enter the portal once it is available.
One of the players to enter on Saturday was Jayvan Boggs, a true freshman wide receiver for the Florida State Seminoles, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. In his first season in Tallahassee, the young wideout recorded nine receptions for 103 yards and one touchdown over eight games. He also started four games during the past season.
His best performance occurred in his second-to-last game against the NC State Wolfpack. He showcased his potential by catching four passes for 56 yards, finishing second on the team in receiving.
Boggs is a former four-star recruit from Cocoa, Florida. He was ranked as one of the top 75 players in the 2025 recruiting class, according to Rivals. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound athlete was also recognized as a top 15 wide receiver in the country in his class.

Boggs’ decision is another immediate ripple effect of Florida State’s roster turnover, particularly at wide receiver, where young players are weighing development timelines and future opportunities. Despite limited production, Boggs flashed upside when given chances late in the season. For Florida State, it places additional emphasis on portal additions and accelerated development for returning receivers.
Around the college football landscape, Boggs is expected to draw strong interest due to his pedigree and remaining three years of eligibility. Former four-star freshmen with early playing experience rarely stay on the market long, and many programs view players like Boggs as high-upside developmental pieces rather than finished products. His combination of size, recruiting profile and flashes against ACC competition makes him a natural target for teams seeking depth or future starters.
Looking ahead, Florida State will continue reshaping its roster as the portal officially opens on Friday, with wide receiver becoming a position to monitor closely this offseason. Meanwhile, Boggs’ next destination could come quickly as programs prepare for spring practice and look to secure young talent with multiple years of eligibility remaining.
