Former Gardner Webb transfer EDGE Antonio O’Berry committed to Kentucky out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. O’Berry will have one season of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pound O’Berry tallied 52 tackles, 10.5 for loss, seven passes defended, 4.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles in 12 games for the Running Bulldogs in 2025. That includes four total tackles, including a half tackle for loss, and a forced fumble against Georgia Tech in Week 2 of the 2025 season. O’Berry has combined for 9.5 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss to go along with 69 total tackles in two seasons at Gardner Webb.
O’Berry started his collegiate career at Division II Tiffin in 2021 before transferring to Gardner Webb following the 2023 season. He now joins his third collegiate program as a graduate transfer.
O’Berry committed to Kentucky on Sunday following a visit to campus on Saturday, choosing the Wildcats over interest from Ohio State, where he visited Friday, as well as West Virginia, Miami and Georgia Tech.
New Wildcats head coach Will Stein, who continues to pull double duty as Oregon‘s offensive coordinator with the Ducks in the College Football Playoff national semifinals, explained his recruiting philosophy at his introductory press conference late last month.
“Guys still want to be recruited old school,” Stein said. “You have to know mom, grandma, aunt, coach. Have you to be completely entrenched in these people’s lives. When you can do that, you don’t always have to be the highest bidder. If the first conversation is about money, probably not the place for you. Not because lack of it. We have plenty of that here.”
“I talked to about 10,000 people at the basketball game, all willing and supportive of the program. I know we have that. But that can’t be the first thing you talk about. I want guys that love football, that want to compete every single day, be the best version of themselves and win.”
Arkansas transfer LB Tavion Wallace commits to Kentucky
O’Berry is Kentucky’s second transfer commitment in as many days after locking up former Arkansas linebacker Tavion Wallace on Saturday. As a freshman at Arkansas, Wallace played in nine games last season, recording just two tackles.
Wallace’s older brother, Trevin, played three seasons at Kentucky between 2021-23 before being selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Tavion Wallace signed with Arkansas as a three-star prospect and the No. 231 overall player in the 2025 recruiting cycle class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, out of Appling County (Baxley, Ga.), where he was the No. 23-ranked linebacker and the No. 30 overall player from the state of Georgia.
