Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver CJ Smith will be playing with his fourth different college football team in four years. Smith transferred from the Memphis Tigers to the UAB Blazers this offseason. He has officially signed with UAB.
Smith is a former four-star recruit with elite speed. He is unranked as a transfer.
Smith began his college career at Georgia in 2022. He redshirted during his first season with the Dawgs. In 2023, Smith posted six receptions for a career-high 116 receiving yards at UGA. Despite a promising redshirt freshman season, Smith left. He joined a Purdue team that had an awful 2024 season and hauled in six catches for 69 yards with Purdue, who fired coach Ryan Walters.
For the 2025 season, Smith played with Memphis. He did not log any catches, but had a rush, pass (it was intercepted) and two tackles. Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield left for the Arkansas job and Smith entered the transfer portal again.
At UAB, Smith will be reunited with one of his former Georgia teammates, running back Roderick Robinson. He will look to have a more productive season with the Blazers.
