Nearly two weeks after being fired, former LSU football coach Brian Kelly released a public statement.
Kelly posted a message on social media, thanking Tiger fans and the LSU community.
“Moving to Baton Rouge four years ago, my family and I were clear. There would be no halfway. We would be all-in for LSU and for Louisiana,” Kelly wrote.
Kelly made waves in 2021 when he left Notre Dame to accept the job at LSU. He became the first sitting head coach in coach in Notre Dame history to leave the Fighting Irish for another college job. Kelly thought LSU provided a better chance to win a national title.
“This journey began with great expectations with my own vision of how to get there. Sometimes the journey does not end the way we hope,” Kelly added.

Kelly wrote he won’t think of where LSU fell short, but rather spend his thoughts on what LSU did accomplish. Kelly cited Jayden Daniels’ Heisman Trophy win and a handful of players drafted by NFL teams.
Kelly also mentioned LSU’s 2022 victory over Alabama, where the Tigers walked it off with a game-winning two-point conversion.
“The losses will always hurt, but I will remember all of the wins. I don’t need to tell any of you how special Saturday night in Tiger Stadium are. I am honored to have worn the purple and gold and been a part of it,” Kelly said.
Kelly said he wishes the best for LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson, along with the LSU players.
“The journey may have ended, but it’s a journey that will stay with me and my family forever,” Kelly said.
