Former LSU football defensive tackle transfers to SEC foe

Former LSU football defensive tackle Ahmad Breaux has committed to Kentucky, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. A former three-star recruit, Breaux was with the Tigers for two seasons, tallying 36 tackles, four tackles for loss, and half of a sack.

Breaux was among the first Tigers to announce his decision to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, likely because of the Tigers’ haul of defensive-line recruits on National Signing Day. LSU signed two five-star defensive linemen, Lamar Brown and Richard Anderson, along with two other four-star recruits, Deuce Geralds and Trenton Henderson.

This influx of talent was likely to leave Breaux without much of a role in 2026 and beyond, making his decision to transfer relatively easy for both parties.

Although losing Breaux to the portal isn’t the biggest issue for LSU, several other losses do, in fact, sting. LSU lost several offensive linemen to the portal, with offensive tackle Carius Curne, offensive tackle Tyree Adams, and offensive guard Coen Echols marking the most significant departures.

The Tigers will need to do a lot of work to fortify this position group with talent at the top and depth behind it in order for LSU to field a competitive group in 2025.
