Former Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy to be keynote speaker at Fiesta Bowl event

STILLWATER — Mike Gundy is heading back to the Fiesta Bowl.
The former Oklahoma State football coach and two-time Fiesta Bowl winner is going to be a keynote speaker at the Fiesta Sports Foundation Football Kickoff in August.
Gundy will be joined by former Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick as the featured speakers at the annual event.
“I’m honored to be a part of the UMB Bank Fiesta Sports Foundation Football Kickoff this summer,” Gundy said in a statement released Wednesday. “The Fiesta Sports Foundation has done an incredible job building one of the premier bowl organizations in the country, and the Yellow Jackets have always treated our program and our fans with first-class hospitality.
“I’m looking forward to a great conversation, reconnecting with fans from across the Valley and helping celebrate the excitement of college football.”
Gundy, who was fired last September in his 21st season as the OSU head coach, has begun to make more public appearances of late.
He joined ESPN for the Coaches’ Film Room broadcast of the CFP national championship game in January, and recently made an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Fox Sports Radio.
The Vrbo Fiesta Bowl hosts a CFP quarterfinal this season, set for Dec. 30 in Glendale, Arizona.
Gundy and Swarbrick join a decorated list of past Football Kickoff keynote speakers, including Chicago Bears legend Jim McMahon, Pro and College Football Hall of Fame receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Michigan’s Desmond Howard, Notre Dame’s Lou Holtz and Rocket Ismail, Florida’s Steve Spurrier, Ohio State’s Urban Meyer, Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops, Nebraska’s Tom Osborne and Tommie Frazier and Arizona State’s Jake Plummer.
