The FSU Seminoles have gained several blue-chip commitments over the last week in their 2027 recruiting class. They did take a major hit when four-star safety Mekhi Williams decommitted and pledged to the Wisconsin Badgers earlier this month.
The Seminoles held a 7-on-7 camp on Wednesday, and the 6-foot-2, 165-pounder was one of the top prospects on campus. Surprisingly, despite his commitment to Wisconsin, Williams hasn't completely erased FSU as an option in his recruitment.
“Well, as of right now, my recruitment’s shut down, but I’m still gonna keep them right now inside the loop because they’re still a big part — they were a big part for me and my recruitment and everything,” Williams told Warchant. “I just don’t want to close that door or break anything.”
Williams chopped it up with multiple coaches on the staff while he was in Tallahassee, and he also noted that a visit during the season could be a possibility. He was committed to Florida State since last March, and at one time, was the highest-ranked prospect they had committed in the 2027 cycle. So, Williams certainly built some strong relationships there.
The Seminoles landed four-star safety Jernard Albright last week, but they're recruiting him as a linebacker. That means that safety is a position that they undoubtedly need to start adding some talent to again.
