A former Spartan received some notable recognition from the Big Ten after his impressive performance this past weekend.

Former Michigan State and now Northwestern starting quarterback Aidan Chiles was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week after his strong performance against Colorado this past weekend. Chiles accounted for five total touchdowns in the blowout victory of the Buffalos, throwing for three of the scores and rushing for two more. He also finished the game completing 17-of-22 pass attempts for 241 yards in the win.

Chiles is in his first season with the Wildcats after serving as the Spartans' starter for most of the last two years under former head coach Jonathan Smith. After his impressive outing against Colorado, Chiles is now up to 514 passing yards and four touchdown passes, and 20 rushing yards for three more scores on the ground in his first two games with the Wildcats.

While it's always interesting to monitor former players, it's even more important to keep an eye on Chiles since he'll be coming to East Lansing, Mich. next month. Michigan State hosts Northwestern in a conference game on October 17, which should be a tough matchup given how well Chiles is playing so far this year.
