A former Spartans quarterback had an impressive season-opening performance to lead his team to victory on Saturday.

The college football season officially kicked off this weekend, with a handful of teams taking the field in Week 0 action. That included former Michigan State quarterback Noah Kim, who led the Eastern Michigan Eagles to a season-opening 28-17 victory over Sacramento State on Saturday night.

Kim threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns compared to no interceptions and also found the end zone on the ground for three total scores in the Eagles' win. Kim is in his second year of leading Eastern Michigan after transferring from Costal Carolina and before that Michigan State.

Kim and the Eagles will host San Jose State this upcoming week before returning to Spartan Stadium against Michigan State on September 12. If Kim continues to play well like he did this week, then Eastern Michigan could make this matchup more challenging for the Spartans than most initially expected.
