Rutgers football has made a last second addition to its roster ahead of the 2026 football season, as former Temple EDGE Sekou Kromah has decided to transfer to the Scarlet Knights. He will have one season of eligibility to play at Rutgers after spending the last two seasons at Temple and his first two seasons at JUCO Monroe College in New York.

Kromah, who stands at 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds, only appeared in 7 games for Temple last season due to injury. Despite the limited playing time Kromah put up solid numbers, recording 14 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks. It should also be noted that he did all of this while seeing snaps at both EDGE and defensive tackle, according to The Knight Report. His best game last season was against Oklahoma where he recorded 7 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup.

Kromah would miss five games last season due to injuries to his shoulder and his oblique. He is rated as a three star transfer by 247 Sports.

Kromah was a New Jersey recruit coming out of the 2022 recruitment class. Over during his senior season in high school, he recorded 90 tackles and 9 sacks.

In addition to Kromah, Rutgers has added four more defensive lineman in the transfer portal to help rebuild that side of the ball. These players include former Appalachian State defensive tackle Rondo Porter, Maine Defensive tackle Jaedin Lee, Toledo Defensive End Malachi Davis, and Tulsa EDGE J’Dan Burnett. The hope is that the Knights can use these transfers to rebuild a unit that surrendered 6.8 yards per rush last season while only recorded 7 total sacks.
