Former Tennessee assistant returning to Webb under George Quarles

Former Tennessee football assistant coach Don Mahoney will return to Webb School in Knoxville, Tennessee.
He was named an assistant on head coach George Quarles’ staff.
Mahoney was Webb’s head coach from 2023-25 and will serve as the Spartans’ offensive line coach in 2026. He compiled a 16-16 record at Webb and parted ways with the school after a 1-9 season in 2025.
During his first season as Webb’s head coach, Mahoney guided the Spartans to a 10-2 record. Webb went 5-5 in 2024.
Mahoney served as an offensive line coach for the Vols from 2013-16 under head coach Butch Jones.
He replaced David Meske who retired as Webb’s head coach and athletics director after nearly four decades.
Mahoney served as an offensive line coach for Meske in 2022. Webb (10-1) advanced to the Tennessee Division II-AA state semifinals in Meske’s final season.
Mahoney also coached at East Carolina, Cincinnati and Tulane.
