On Sunday, former USC quarterback Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks punched their ticket to Super Bowl LX. After 60 years, Darnold will finally become the first ever USC QB to start a Super Bowl.

Darnold played at USC from 2015-2017. Following the game, Clay Helton, his head coach with the Trojans, took to social media to congratulate his former quarterback.

“Sam Darnold- class, character, team over self, and just plain guts,” Helton wrote. “The ultimate professional. You are defined by how you face adversity. You faced it like a champion. So proud of you brother. Go win it all!”

While at USC together, Darnold and Helton won a Rose Bowl and a Pac-12 Championship. While Helton’s tenure with the Trojans fell off following Darnold’s departure for the NFL and he was ultimately fired in 2021, USC fans will forever appreciate what the duo did together during their time on campus.
