Former Wisconsin quarterback Nick Evers is set to reenter the transfer portal when it opens on Friday, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Evers began his career at Oklahoma back in 2022. He redshirted as a true freshman, then transferred to Wisconsin ahead of the 2023 season. His arrival was part of the program’s overhaul of its offensive scheme and quarterback room, and came with significant fanfare.

The former four-star recruit did not see game action during his one season with the Badgers. He reentered the portal following the campaign, eventually committing to UConn. The Flower Mound, Texas, native has since spent two seasons with the Huskies, appearing in 12 total games and tallying 1,023 passing yards, six touchdowns, five interceptions, 243 rushing yards and three rushing scores. He is set to reenter the portal as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.

Everes joins a significant list of former Badgers set to reenter the portal after spending time with different programs. Cornerback Jonas Duclona, safety Justin Taylor and quarterbacks Braedyn Locke and Mabrey Mettauer are all doing so after just one season.

The transfer window officially opens on Friday, Jan. 2. Wisconsin will be busy, especially at quarterback.
