Ryan Day and the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes (12-0) are heavily involved in two of the biggest recruiting storylines of the early signing period.
Starting with Chris Henry Jr., the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver has been committed to Ohio State since July 2023. However, following the revelation that the offensive coordinator Brian Hartline had accepted the USF head coaching job, Henry has since decided to reconsider if he will end up in Columbus. With programs such as Oregon, USC and Texas making a late push for him, plenty of eyes are on the Mater Dei standout.
However, within the same Ohio State class sits four-star athlete Legend Bey out of Texas. The four-star athlete who plays quarterback but projects as an offensive weapon committed to Ohio State last month. However, a suspicious social media post and reports from 247Sports revealed that his family is preventing him from signing with the program.
According to 247Sports’ Mike Roach, Bey randomly flipped and signed with Tennessee after “pressure” from his family. The No. 149 player in the country made clear was the case in a now-deleted post on X that his family are the ones preventing him from going to Ohio State.
“Good afternoon, I was just recently logged out of my IG and probably will be logged out of this account as well by my older brother who has access to my account because, I won’t sign to the school him and my mother wants.- Legend Bey,” wrote the recruit.
4 star Legend Bey just posted this on Twitter before it was quickly deleted. 😬
Bey was committed to Tennessee, decommited last month and then signed with the Vols yesterday. ðŸŸ

The statement and situation caught plenty of traction online.
The hold-up in this situation comes as a result of Bey being 17-years-old, which is why his mother is temporarily allowed to prevent him from going to Ohio State, according to Roach.
“Sources told 247Sports Wednesday evening that Bey was unhappy with the decision and would seek a path to be released from Tennessee and end up at Ohio State,” wrote Roach.” We were told that this would likely play out in three weeks when Bey turns 18 years old on Christmas Eve, but Bey decided to communicate his unrest Thursday.”
Needless to say, this has been an eventful cycle for Ohio State.
