Four-star safety Ta’Shawn Poole is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and he’s a major target for the Florida State Seminoles. However, he’s also a target for a plethora of schools, particularly in the SEC.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder does have several schools that are creating some distance from the others, per Tom Loy of 247Sports. FSU is one of them, confirming that his recent visit in April went well.

“The Peach State standout is still considering LSU, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Florida State, and Tennessee. According to 247Sports’ Benjamin Wolk, the most buzz remains on the Volunteer, but the Tide and Seminoles have cut into that lead.”

Tennessee hosted Poole for a spring scrimmage about a week before his trip to Florida State last month. On June 5, Tennessee has an official visit with Poole, which is two weeks before he’ll be back in Tallahassee on June 19. Alabama offered him back in January, and they had him on campus for a spring practice in March.

Poole is the No. 59 player nationally and the No. 5 safety per the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also the No. 5 prospect in the state of Georgia.

FSU is also heavily in the mix for blue-chip safety Jeremiah Proctor. They’re looking for more talent to add to four-star safety Mekhi Williams, three-star safety Jemari Foreman, and three-star cornerback Dayon Cooper in their secondary haul for the 2027 class.
