The FSU Seminoles battled for three-star athlete Brandon Leavell, but they were unable to convince him to leave his home state of Tennessee. He committed to the Tennessee Volunteers on Monday, announcing the news on social media.

Leavell, who is from Madison, Tennessee, picked the Vols over the Seminoles, Florida Gators, NC State Wolfpack, Purdue Boilermakers, and Clemson Tigers. The 6-foot-0.5, 165-pounder was set to officially visit all of the programs, but with a Tennessee official visit before then, the Volunteers will have a great shot to shut his recruitment down.

He is ranked as the No. 604 overall player and No. 44 athlete in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 28 player from Tennessee. While listed as an athlete, he is expected to play in the secondary at the next level.

FSU offered Leavell a scholarship on Feb. 26, hosting him on a visit in April. While missing out on him stings, the Seminoles have three defensive backs committed in safeties Mekhi Williams (four-star) and Jemari Foreman (three-star) and cornerback Dayon Cooper (three-star).

Leavell had a productive junior season at Goodpasture Christian School, where he played on both sides of the ball. As a wide receiver, he caught 35 passes for 735 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added four interceptions on defense.
