FSU defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins planning to enter transfer portal

Florida State will see another player on the defensive side of the ball enter the transfer portal when the window opens in January.

Defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins, after spending a single season in Tallahassee, intends to spend next season with a new program, his agency A&P Sports confirmed on Thursday.

Jenkins, who transferred from Tennessee last offseason, becomes the fifth defensive lineman to announce his intention to leave in the portal alongside L A Jessie Harold, Tyeland Coleman, Jamorie Flagg and Jaden Jones.

Jenkins was expected to break out at Florida State after serving as a rotational piece for Tennessee, but got hurt in the spring and needed to rehab the entire summer just to put himself in a position to play against Alabama when the season opened in August. Although he appeared in all 12 games and started in five, Jenkins finished the season with only 1.0 sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. With FSU bringing in Nick Williams as their new edge coach, a split here is not a surprise.
