Special teams wasn’t so special for Florida State football.

With the chance of getting the ball back, two straight special teams miscues led to two straight turnovers for North Carolina State.

The first one was a bizarre punt that hit safety K.J. Kirkland on the helmet, allowing the Wolfpack to recover the ball. The defense bailed the special teams out with three-and-out.

On the next punt, wide receiver Squirrel White muffed the ball, and the Wolfpack recovered it again at the 14-yard line. Those two disastrous special teams plays could be the game-sealer for North Carolina with a 14-11 lead under two minutes left.

NC State’s QB CJ Bailey would throw a game-sealing touchdown on a fourth down to have FSU trail 21-11. With the opportunity to make a one-possession game with under two minutes left, Mike Norvell decided to have Jake Weinberg kick the field goal. Unfortunately, he missed again.

FSU has been struggling offensively. It was not until later in the fourth quarter that the Seminoles saw the endzone.
