FSU football on All-ACC teams: Duce Robinson, Luke Petitbon earn 1st-team

Florida State football (5-7, 2-7) is well-represented in this year’s All-ACC selections that were released on Tuesday. After finishing the year at 5-7, eight different Seminoles received the honors.

Wide receiver Duce Robinson and offensive lineman Luke Petitbon were highlighted as the two Seminoles to make the first team. Both Robinson and Petitbon were the two key additions from the transfer portal.

Robinson received the most votes out of all FSU players after he led with six passes for 1,081 yards and six touchdowns. He was the first Seminoles to reach 1,000 yards since 2019 and is ranked ninth all-time in receiving yards in a single season.

Petitibon started all 12 games at center for FSU. As the anchor, he paved the way for FSU’s top-ranked total offense in the conference and ninth-ranked nationally (472.1). He played 795 snaps, has not allowed a sack, and graded at 90 percent, the highest among FSU players.

He was named Outland Trophy National Player of the Week and ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week after his performance in FSU’s upset victory over No. 8 Alabama. Petitbon is a two-time All-ACC performer.

Junior DB Earl Little Jr. made second-team All-ACC after leading the Seminoles with 76 tackles and four interceptions. He also had two forced fumbles and two pass breakups. His four interceptions are ranked fourth in the league and No.16 in the country.

Darrell Jackson Jr, Mandrell Desir, Richie Leonard IV, Randy Pittman and Jerry Wilson made honorable mention. It is the second-straight year that Jackson received an All-ACC accolade. The remaining four are first-time selectees.

Jackson was a senior leader on the defensive front. While taking on double and triple teams, he recorded 45 tackles, including 3.0 for loss and 1.0 sack, and one quarterback hurry.

Desir emerged into a freshman star for the Seminoles as he led the Seminoles with 7.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry to go along with his 30 total tackles. His sacks are the third-most for a true freshman in FSI history and most since Brian Burns’ 9.5 in 2016.

Leonard started 11 of the 12 games at left guard, playing a part in blocking ACC’s top offense. He is also named a semifinalist for the Wuerffel Trophy in recognition of his dedication to community service. Pittman started nine games in his first year at FSU after transferring from UCF.

He caught 23 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. He also has three rushing touchdowns and one passing TD. He became the third player in school history to have a rushing, receiving and passing TD in a single game against Virginia.

Wilson started every game at cornerback after transferring from Houston. He recorded 42 tackles, three interceptions, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
