Florida State football running back coach David Johnson is expected to take the running back coach job at Arkansas, according to reports.
Johnson was linked with the job last week by CBS Sports, and he is now expected to reunite with new Razorback head coach Ryan Silverfield. The pair both worked together at Memphis under the current FSU head coach, Mike Norvell.
He is the second position coach to leave the program after Norvell fired defensive back coach Patrick Surtain last week. Johnson spent five seasons with the program and coached the likes of Trey Benson, Lawrance Toafili and Jashaun Corbin, while also serving as recruiting coordinator for the program.
The move comes after the Seminoles’ 5-7 season, where the program operated a running back-by-committee approach.
Key transfer portal addition Gavin Sawchuk, true freshman Ousmane Kromah and sophomore Sam Singleton split a lot of the load for the program, with veteran back Roydell Williams earning carries as well. FSU averaged 218.7 rushing yards per game this season.
