FSU standing out to elite 2028 tight end

The Florida State Seminoles already have a commitment from three-star tight end Troy Silberzahn in the 2028 recruiting class, but they are not done at the position. His early commitment has allowed head coach Mike Norvell and tight end coach Chris Thomsen to go big game hunting, and their efforts are being noticed.

Four-star prospect Kaleb Ballard is arguably the top tight end in the country, and the Seminoles are one of several schools standing out to the Wetumpka, Alabama native. He also mentioned the Florida Gators, Clemson Tigers, Auburn Tigers, and Ole Miss Rebels as schools standing out to Chad Simmons of Rivals.

He explained why each school has his attention, with him pointing out how FSU's offense spreading the ball around has caught his eye.

“I have been to Florida State a few times, and the offense, how everyone has a chance to get the ball, all the coaches being on the same page are big for me there. The energy they have during practice and around the facility are things I like too,” he explained.

Ballard is ranked as the No. 56 overall player and No. 2 tight end in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 4 player from Alabama.

He had an excellent sophomore season at Wetumpka High School, finishing with 32 receptions for 573 yards and 10 touchdowns. At 6-foot-5 and 223 pounds and with a history of playing basketball, he has the potential to be a matchup nightmare in the passing game.
