The FSU Seminoles have six players committed in their 2027 recruiting class, and four-star safety Mekhi Williams is their highest-ranked commit. While he has been committed for over a year, his recruitment is not over, and the Seminoles are battling several premier programs for him.

Williams recently announced an updated official visit schedule for the summer, and he will check out the Wisconsin Badgers (May 29), Seminoles (June 5), Nebraska Cornhuskers (June 12), and LSU Tigers (June 19). He explained that he is still committed to FSU, but is evaluating his options.

“Me and Florida State are still locked in, but I’m going to keep my recruitment open and keep my options open right now,” he told Zach Blostein of Noles247.

He is ranked as the No. 196 overall player and No. 17 safety in the 247Sports composite. The Ruskin product is also the No. 22 player from Florida. According to Blostein, he wants to play cornerback at FSU, something the coaching staff is comfortable with him doing.

While FSU has been recruiting Williams longer than anyone else in the country, it became the first school to offer him a scholarship back in January of 2025. It will likely be tough to hold onto him. He admitted to Blostein that their success in the 2026 season and Mike Norvell’s future will play a key role in his decision.

“It’s real important to me, actually, because I still want to see Mike Norvell there,” he said. “I’ve been staying committed to him and to the program.”
