One of the most highly anticipated players in recent Buckeyes history is officially a member of the brotherhood.
Ohio State running back Legend Bey lost his black stripe on Tuesday, signifying his official entrance into the Buckeyes' football brotherhood. The black stripe tradition dates back to the Urban Meyer days, when he would make any recruit earn their right to be a Buckeye.

On Tuesday, Bey officially lost his.
Bey's story to this point has been pretty unique. Just a couple of months ago, he was committed to the University of Tennessee after his senior season. It always felt a little bit off because he was very publicly wanting to go to Ohio State. Even to the point where he was wearing Buckeye gear around practice and around school.
His commitment shocked everyone but it seemed to be his future, until it wasn't.
Once Bey turned 18, he rescinded his commitment to the Volunteers and immediately committed to Ryan Day and the Buckeyes. The story came out later that his parents heavily influenced his commitment to Tennessee, even though he always wanted to be a Buckeye.
It didn't quite stop there. Bey settled in as a Buckeye, but when Ohio State took the field to begin fall camp, he was nowhere to be found. He was suspended for two practices for an unspecified violation of team rules.
No road is smooth, and Bey's certainly was not, but once he got through the suspension, he was off and running.
Bey brings so much to the table for the Buckeyes at a position where they really haven't seen his type of player. The running back position for Ohio State has historically been a bruising type of running back that shows spurts of athleticism.
That's not Bey.
Bey is an electric athlete out of the backfield. He has a little Darren Sproles to his game; if you just get him the football, he is going to make something spectacular happen.
While he officially lost his stripe, it will take some time until he is a major contributor on this roster. The Ohio State running back room is very good and very deep. It will be a battle for touches, and Bey will be the low man on the totem pole.
One of Ohio State's most prized additions to the team is officially a member of the football team as he shed his black stripe less than two weeks from kickoff.
