It's been a tough first half of football for Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, but a future Buckeye got some good news on Wednesday evening. Cleveland Glenville linebacker Cincere Johnson has been named the All-USA National Defensive Player of the Year presented by USA Today.

A four-star prospect, Johnson is rated as the No. 3 linebacker in the class according to 247Sports composite rankings. A product of the same school that has produced talent such as Troy Smith, Ted Ginn Jr, and current Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese, Johnson has been developing a reputation for wreaking havoc on the gridiron. His senior season included 185 tackles, 42 tackles for loss, and 13.5 sacks, as well as five forced fumbles. He would lead the Tarblooders to a Division IV State Championship. Johnson led a defense that only gave up 10.8 points per game.

It's a huge accomplishment and well-deserved recognition for the future Buckeye. The pipeline from Cleveland Glenville to Columbus is alive and well.
